To get a terminal window first time, go to "Applications" menu on the upper left corner of
your computer screen and then go to the
terminal following the following path: Debian ->
XShells -> Gnome Terminal.
To create more terminal windows, you can then go to "File" menu at
the upper left corner of the terminal window and select "Open
Terminal" option. Alternatively you can move the cursor into a
terminal window and then click the right button of your mouse, you
should then see an option for "Open Terminal".
To save your current session as your default session so that you will
not have to go through all the above steps again to get these
terminal windows. To save the current window setup, go to "Desktop"
again on the upper left corner of your computer screen and then go
through the path: Preferences->Sessions, and then click on "Save the
current Session".
From a Sun Workstation at the Stat Lab
To get a terminal window first time, put the cursor on the empty part of your desktop
and click the right button of your mouse, and then go to the terminal
following the following path: WorkSpace Menu -> Tools -> Terminal.
To create more terminal windows, you can then go to "Window" menu
at the upper left corner of the terminal and select "New". Again,
alternatively you can put the cursor in a terminal window and then
click the right button, you should then see an option for "Window ->
New".
When you logout, you should be given an option if you want to save the current session.
