Read Chapter 15 (except Section 15.5).

Do the following three problems in the text:

Exercise 15.20: Tax Forms Data

• a) Run the analysis based on the one-way ANOVA model and answer the question if there is a difference in the mean completion times among the 4 firms.
• b) Run the analysis based on the randomized block design model and answer the questions 1) if there is a difference in the mean completion times among the 4 firms; 2) if there is a block effect.
• c) Comment on which model seems to be appropriate.

Exercise 15.34: Firms Data

Additional problem: Consider the scenario in the Exercise 15.7 where we would like to check the standards of high schools.

• a) If we want to use the data to determine the standards of the same 4 schools, should we use the fixed effects or random effects model?
• b) If the 4 schools were drawn randomly from the nation and we want to use the results to conclude if the standards of the high schools in the nation are different or not, should we use the fixed effects or random effects model?
