Course:

Statistics 208 is a continuation of Statistics 207. It introduces the powerful ideas of classical and modern statistics. It covers the basic concepts and most commonly used techniques in statistics. The emphasis is on applications. The topics are: inference about one and two populations: parametric and nonparametric techniques, analysis of variance, simple linear regression and correlation, multiple linear regression, analysis of contingency tables, goodness-of-fit tests and special topics (if we have time).

Prerequisite:

STAT 207 (or STAT 285).

Homework:

Assigned weekly on Thursday and due on next Thursday at the end of the class. No late homework!

Exam Schedule:

There are a midterm exam and a final exam.
Midterm: March 6, Thursday, 12:30-2:30pm
Final: May 5, Monday, 12:15-3:15pm

Grading policy:

Homework assignments worth 25%
Midterm worth 25%.
Final worth 50%.

There will be some bonus points for good attendance in lectures and office hours.
