DNA microarrays present scientists with an exciting new opportunity
of monitoring genetic expressions of thousands of genes in single experiments.
The potential implications for understanding disease processes and developing
targeted therapeutics are enormous. CWRU got into the gene array game in
a big way about 18 months ago with the formation of the Expression Array
Core within the Ireland Cancer Center. This was in accord with a wave of
interest in microarrays spreading all across the country. Concurrently,
many top institutions established statistical groups focused on developing
analysis tools for this type of data. This talk will give an overview of
the expression array technology and some thoughts related to the analysis
of this data.
